“Fantastic. I went with two Holocaust professors. We all loved it. I loved the blending of archival footage, animation, interviews and narration. … Really great portrait of the man, of the human being. Bravo. I liked the animation to help the mind’s eye of the viewer while people were talking. Really well done.”
„Fantastyczny.
Leora T.
“Fantastic film. Well done! This story continues to be relevant and important today.”
„Fantastyczny film. Brawo! Tematyka jest cały czas trafna i ważna, zwłaszcza w dzisiejszych czasach.”
Amanda C.
“Właśnie wyszliśmy z kina… Paweł wzruszony, że zaniemówił, chodzi sam przede mną…. niesamowite dzieło.”
“We just left the cinema… Pawel so moved he was speechless… walking in front of me, alone… An incredible work of art.”
Anna Maria O.B.
WIELKIE WIELKIE UZNANIE ”
“I saw your film. When it ended, I had to wait 5, 10, maybe even 15 or 20 or more minutes to start breathing and swallowing normally again. A doco about such difficult and terrible events. In my opinion, PERFECTION!!!! You did a GREAT THING – leaving room for me, room for the viewer, and time for my own space, time for my own empathy, my own sensitivity, able to be mobilised from within. GREAT, GREAT RESPECT.”

“The film is a revelation, beautifully made, very interesting. I held my breath and listened to its every word. It brought a flood of emotions, the scenes were incredibly moving, Karski’s portrait was beautiful. The animations were a superb idea. A clever film, serving as a warning! You took a difficult task on and made it into a success. Many, many congratulations. Thank you for the emotions and the tears that you gave us, enriching our souls.”
Ryszarda R.
I am sure that Jan Karski would have been proud of you and the film. Congratulations!!!!!”
“Thanks to your work and your talent, the world is becoming a better place every day. I am sure that Jan Karski would have been proud of you and the film. Congratulations!!!!!”
Pawel H.
„I am incredibly happy, and the reading of Sobolewski’s text alone reminded me of what a good film you’ve managed to make, which, in this case – I admit – I believe was an impossible task… This black and white story, so well-known, so impossibly heroic … Really, you have managed to do something quite exceptional, and in this case – also something very important. I am as pleased as a little child and … thank you:) A sweet sensation.
Monika F.”
On był wielki, podziwiam Twoją bezkompromisowość i odwagę.”
“It’s amazing. Thanks to you I was able to learn more about Karski. He was a great man. I’m in awe of your uncompromising stance and courage.”
Adam R.
“Gorąco polecam ten film. Piękna opowieść o prawdziwym bohaterze. Nadal jestem pod wrażeniem. Gratuluję!”
“I recommend this film highly. A beautiful story about a real hero. I’m still spellbound. Congratulations.”
Malgorzata T.
Bohater! Ja oprócz obrazów zagłady Żydów zapamiętam do końca życia opowieść Karskiego o spotkaniach z wielkimi ówczesnego świata, szczególnie reakcję Edena, Roosevelta i Franfurtera. Łzy…”
“I just got back from the cinema. It’s so difficult to shake it off, so difficult to understand the world’s inaction and politics. I don’t know how Jan Karski was able to function after the war with such images etched into his retinas, and all his knowledge. A hero! As for me, apart from the images of the Holocaust of the Jews, I will remember the stories told by Karski for the rest of my life, about meetings with the world’s giants of the day, especially reactions of Eden, Roosevelt and Frankfurter. Tears….”
Beata M.
“My wife and I just got home from watching your film @ Luna Theatre and we loved it. Karski was already somewhat a role model for me, and now more so than ever.
The complexity of being this noble, good looking, educated man, mixed with his incredible sensitivity and empathy followed by the tragedy of having seen such horrors and yet no one in the West believing him, or if they did believe him, refusing to do anything about it. You can see he took this burden with him all the way to the grave. Chapeau bas on a great piece of work about a great man.”
Ian I.
“Slawek, hats off! A wonderful film, it really shook me up, pulling me in deeply. Excellent production – congratulations! You did give the world a shake! And I have to admit this is the first doco I’ve ever seen in which I really liked animations. Beautiful!”
“It’s only after the viewing ended that I realised my nails were deeply dug into my clenched fists. Luckily, the cinema was dark so no tears could be seen. Nothing more to be said.”
Monika K.
“I’ve seen it! It’s such an amazing and very important story.”
“Obejrzałam! To taka wspaniała i bardzo ważna opowieść.”
Elizabeth R.
“Widziałam dzisiaj film. Przede wszystkim powinni go zobaczyć młodzi ludzie na całym świecie.
“I watched the film today. Most of all, it must be seen by young people, all over the world. I cried together with Mr Jan Karski, one has to see it. Never forget about Jan, about the stories he’s been telling, never allow these kinds of monstrosities to happen again.”
Joanna T.
! ! MERCI”
„I don’t know what to say … these images are just shocking … I’ll say nothing more … you have to see it, experience it for yourself … I am just wondering if our “Lords of the Humanity” would also show this much Indifference. If it were some other People, bestially starved, degraded and brutally murdered … Lest we, just like Jan Karski, forget this unprecedented, total Holocaust of One People. Thank you very much for this exceptional film, to Slawek and Katka for her outstanding screenplay! ! ! MERCI”
Anna C.
„I saw your film two hours ago and I am still under its spell. You give it to those that deserve it in a balanced but emphatic way. I hope that as many people as possible see it. Please say hello to the animator – I really like this type of animation – minimum movement, strong stroke. “
Maciej J.
Niezwykłe zdjęcia archiwalne i piękna animacja.
„I just came back from the cinema, watched “Karski and Lords…”. We sat and watched it as quiet as mice, even though Karski’s story is well-known to us. But the way his life and mission was shown was so fascinating that we held our breaths – very well paced and with no pathos. A beautiful film, congratulations! Incredible archival footage and stunning animations. After all, we’ve seen so many war and ghetto images and you’d think: what’s new… however, the method of delivering the images all at once made for incredible viewing. Bravo! I went with who knew very little about Karski and they’re stunned.
Ewa A.
I thought that I knew the Jan Karski story well. I cheered the making of the film from the sidelines and believed I knew what to expect. And now I feel that it’s not a film about a hero but about humanity, about Jan, whose curse was his amazing memory and high morals. The clarity of his expression, feelings and emotions he emanates, despite the passage of years… And when I saw the terrible war-time images I felt that everything in life is relative. When I was going home on this beautiful spring evening with my husband, going through Wroclaw, I asked how many days and how many bodies would we have to see on the sidewalks to stop paying attention and think only of ourselves. And the answer I got is quite possibly true. Reflections? Nothing’s changed. Syria is a good example. But the man called Jan Karski is called something else today. Thank you for the film.
Malgorzata W.

Thank you for inviting me to see this fantastic film. This is a new dimension; a type of documentary that never existed before. The film inspired my mum to (finally!) take out documents about my grandmother, who saved Jews during WW2… She’s my very own Karski. J
Joanna B
“Thank you on behalf of my husband and I for the film, for your wonderful and moving work. I don’t want to say that I cried. Ben, too, but how could you not. The film gives you dignity. Thank you for allowing us to meet Mr Karski. We are moved and it’s a wonderful, important thing.”
Beata D.
“This doco gets right under your skin. It’s based on the archival materials and footage made about Jan Karski, found by its director. This deceptively lazy narration, commenting on events in a chronological order, opens the door to the deepest and most secret emotions. They bring out the Polish Emissary’s burden and the guilt he felt for the mission that was never accomplished, and for which he was never responsible, but … those “lords of humanity”, and in particular, the USA President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.”

Karski & The Lords of Humanity: Onwards & Upwards

We are thrilled to announce that “Karski & The Lords of Humanity” just received financial support from the Polish National Centre for Culture – a state cultural institution which initiates and coordinates strategic programs for culture and builds platforms for regional, trans-regional and international cultural cooperation.

Also, we have upgraded and remodeled the film’s official website. Please visit: www.jankarski.com

The work on the film progresses as planned with more scenes being filmed and fundraising continued in the US, Poland, Israel, Germany and France.

One of the recent interviews we filmed was with a 92-year former member of the Polish Underground, who gave shelter to Jan Karski in his house in southern Poland. Karski was on his way to the West traveling across Nazi-occupied Europe.

“Castaways” (“Wyrzutki”) is a short film documentary about the desperate acts of condemned parents to save their children. Łapy was one of several stations in occupied Poland on the way to the Nazi death camp of Treblinka. Trains transporting Jews would slow down there and sometimes briefly stop while the tracks were being adjusted. Some parents attempted to save small children by throwing them off the train. The last eyewitnesses to this story remember these times.
